Backup as archive?

Snapshots or backup data can be deployed for data recovery. Think of retention periods from 30 to 60 days or different periods for specific situations. Backup data should always be separated from archive data.

This can be done by migrating archive data to tapes (most common: LTO) or by keeping the data available online on disk (with tape backup as additional assurance). One important aspect that should be taken into account are the management costs required to keep the data available. Backupned recognises increasing growth in this segment; static data stored on tape in a safe environment, with many long-term safeguards.
